Why are games in space so fascinating?

Games in space are so popular because they show us the future that people predict to live in. Even if it’s not our generation that will explore other planets freely, it’s cool to fantasize about how it would be. We love the idea, and after a hundred and twenty years since A Trip to the Moon, our imagination still can’t get enough of new representations of otherworldly life.

The ideas of what it would be like also vary greatly: from an epic, beautiful cosmic odyssey in the Mass Effect series to a dystopian and unsettling atmosphere of The Outer Worlds. The way other planets (and space in general) could look is enthralling, although the portrayal of people and how they behave in the future is equally as fascinating. Space exploration games won’t disappear from the market any time soon: we’ve been fascinated by the sky above for hundreds of years, so why would we suddenly stop if it’s “only” the realm of PC games? 

The most interesting space games on PC

We’re already aware of why people love playing space games on PC, but what are the most remarkable examples? There are quite many, so let us name just a few noteworthy ones. First of all, you should check out the previously mentioned Mass Effect franchise. The Outer Worlds is also a great game, even though it approaches the future differently. 

We recommend trying out Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy for more variety. It’s a surprisingly good title that features the cast we know from the movies in a new, refreshed way. We have a chance to get to know them even more and engage in a space journey accompanied by a phenomenal soundtrack and satisfying, rich gameplay. 

We’ve mentioned here that the social aspect is also quite crucial in games in space, and this particular thing is done perfectly in Among Us. It may not be entirely about the fact that we’re roaming the cosmos; it’s that someone in our crew is an Impostor, and we have to look for any signs of behavior that’s, wait for it, kind of sus. 

If we fail to deduce who is responsible for the deaths of other crew members, we’re toast. It’s the psychology that makes the game so addicting. You need to observe your companions and be ready to explain yourself in return. Otherwise, you’ll be the one who gets ejected. The premise is simple, but the execution is impeccable.
