What are the advantages of TPP?

It’s probably that you can move around in this view arguably easier than in FPP (which stands for first person perspective) and the somewhat cinema-like looks that represent the charm of TPP. It’s a perfect match for RPG titles: they are just pleasant to be played that way, with all the gear you’ve grinded so hard on display. Maybe with the exception of some games, say, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (that can be viewed both in FPP and TPP), third-person view is the choice you should make when you want to see a bit more. You can admire your character’s designs, too. 

Third person shooters

Now, is the concept of a shooter reserved only for first-person perspective? As it turns out, not really. Third person shooters are also a thing, and, what is quite a surprise, they allow for precise gameplay that isn’t that much worse than what the FPS titles have to offer.

The immersion may not be nearly as strong as with “seeing” the game through your character’s eyes, although you get a better understanding of the area in return. It’s especially important in PC games that involve a lot of enemies (yes, including survival horrors with zombies), where a bit of free space decides whether you survive your battle or not. TPS is a bit different from your usual shooter experience, but they offer a more strategic approach that you should take in order to win.

What third person games on PC should I try?

We’ve praised third-person shooters just now, but we should keep in mind that the list of third person games PC isn’t necessarily full of them. We would like to provide you with a few titles that represent TPP in a great manner and are a great introduction to this in-game view.

The first of our picks is Red Dead Redemption 2. This game wouldn’t have packed a punch this big without third person perspective. You can feel that you’re controlling a person, someone with a history, while playing as Arthur, and there’s no need for the players to be an anonymous gunslingers. Thanks to the third person perspective, the fights are also fantastic as you feel like you’re watching a regular Western, taking all of the best things from shooters and perfecting them. 

On the other hand, you could enter the unforgiving world of DARK SOULS and understand that noticing this one enemy that is about to stab you from behind is a great thing to have. The series is known for its very high difficulty, although it’s a little bit more bearable when you’re able to have control over your position. You’ll deal with a lot of enemies on your way, and they’re not acting as gentlemen at all, attacking you whenever they have a chance. So it’s really better to see a bit more, as you can see.

TPP games can be of any genre, so don’t feel betrayed that we possibly haven’t included your favorites. There are just way too many PC titles out there that use this perspective. It’s great that such a variety of games exists, and it’s impossible not to find a new exciting journey after a couple of minutes. What else do we need?
